New Mercedes-Benz Model in Works for 2015
aimler on Friday said a new Mercedes-Benz model will be built at its factory in Tuscaloosa, Alabama starting in 2015.
It did not provide details about the additional vehicle, but Automotive News Europe says the model is a coupelike version of the M-Class SUV that targets the BMW X6.

Mercedes-Benz's new 2012 ML63 AMG represents the sort of self-contradictory engineering challenge Germans love.
It's 2.5 tons of SUV thrown around by a 518-horsepower, twin-turbocharged, direct-injected 5.5-liter V8 — a granite boulder with a rocket engine. It's a family hauler for the family that wants to set a low lap time at the Nürburgring with five humans aboard and a golden retriever in the back. It's a pretend off-roader that can fly all day across pavement at an electronically limited 155 mph (or 174 if said family paid for the AMG Performance option package). There's enough torque aboard to pull Stuttgart across Germany and France into the English Channel, but it's dead-squirrel silent.
This is AMG's third shot at building a hyperdrive version of the M-Class, and it's getting better at it with every attempt. The 2012 Mercedes-Benz ML63 is ridiculous, and that's why it's so tasty.

High-riding vehicles with mad amounts of horsepower have never struck us as a good idea, even if there's clearly money to be made by offering them to those whose bank accounts trump their understanding of vehicle dynamics. And more muscle, in a vehicle that upon our last visitation was already content to write checks its chassis couldn't cash, hardly recommended the 2012 ML63.
Improved Seat Belt for Mercedes-Benz
Safety is a top priority for Mercedes-Benz. Even though they have recently updated their seat belts, they felt they were still not safe enough. So, they have improved them again with a feature that uses motors in the B- and C0 pillars. These motors serve to adjust the tension of the seat belt after it is buckled. The seat belts are extended and illuminated so you can easily enter the car, find the locking mechanism and fasten them. When they are fastened, they retract to provide the correct tension around the lower pelvis and thorax.
Head of Passive Safety and Vehicle Functions at Mercedes-Benz Cars, Prof. Dr. Ing. Rodolfo Schöneburg said, “Active seat-belt buckle is another element of our ‘PRE-SAFE®’ concept, which is intended to provide our customers with optimum protection in real accident scenarios. After all, we aim to offer a high standard of safety not only in all model series, but also in all seats. In the rear of premium saloons in particular, passengers tend to sit in particularly relaxed positions in the generous space which is available,” continues Schöneburg. “Active seat-belt buckle as part of PRE-SAFE® unlocks the full potential of the on-board restraint systems.”
